With Emarsys you can send short links to your customers in your SMS message. These short URLs can be personalized, directing your customers to a page relevant to their shopping activity. Among others, best practices for sms link landing pages include the following:
- Pre-filled forms
- The customer's shopping cart
In this article we are focusing on the 'shopping cart' scenario, especially describing the use case of directing your customers to their abandoned cart.
Please note that abandoned cart SMS messages are NOT transactional SMSes since no purchase has been made. Therefore, you must secure an opt-in before sending them and you must always include an unsubscribe link or keyword.
Sending a general SMS reminder
Let's assume you have a Adobe Commerce integration with Emarsys and you are managing a webshop selling products related to clothing. We present this use case through our demo webshop example, BestRun.
- The customer has put two items into the cart:
- For some reason the customer did not complete the purchase and leaves the cart. So you want to send the customer a personalized reminder SMS, with a link included, directing to the abandoned cart:
For the customer, the message will look like the following:
Sending an SMS reminder with detailed personalization
You can further personalize your content by adding more personalization tokens. Regarding the customer's most recent abandoned cart, you can add the following to the message:
- The date when the cart was abandoned
- The abandoned categories
- The total price of items in the cart
- The products in the cart
In our current use case, an example of adding the abandoned products to your message body would be the following:
To your customer, the message will look like:
You can also automate the above processes, by adding such SMS campaigns to an Automation Center program. You can set the time duration the program should wait before sending the SMS message after the cart was abandoned by the customer.
Reporting
Since links are trackable in SMS campaigns, you can also monitor the clicks of your customers and collect them in a report. For more information, see Link Tracking Reporting.
