To improve your Emarsys experience, effective March 27, 2023, the Emarsys Home page will be the default landing page after login. This page is fully customizable according to your needs and optimal flow.
Please note, the Main Dashboard will no longer be available after March 24. At that time, your widgets will be moved over except for Email Campaigns, Automation, and Predict Recommendations widgets that can be found using the following reports:
- Predict information is available in the Predict Dashboard.
- Automation and Email Campaign performance is available in Trend Reporting.
To make the update now, go to My profile > Start page and select the Emarsys Home page.
The operational Dashboard is the default home page for the Emarsys Marketing Platform. It consists of a number of widgets that provide you with easy visual overviews of the status of your account and the performance of your e-commerce marketing strategies.
As a quick reminder, here is the onboarding video about the Main Dashboard:

Introduction
As well as showing their latest figures, most widgets also indicate if these figures for the current time period are better or worse than those for the previous period. For all charts, you can hover your mouse cursor over any point to see the exact figures for that day.
Please note that when a contact is deleted, all of the data relating to that contact is also deleted. This will retrospectively affect any reports which use contact-level data. Contact deletion may affect your analytics and reports on the Main Dashboard, especially:
- the year-to-year comparison.
- the Predict Recommendations widget - you may experience changes in figures after deleting contacts but it will not affect your reports retrospectively.
- the Intelligence widget - you may experience changes in metrics retrospectively and regularly.
For more information on the effects of contact deletion, see What happens to deleted contacts in Emarsys?
You can arrange the widgets as you like by dragging and dropping them around the page. Where relevant, the widgets have a time range selector in the top right corner. If there is no data for the selected time range, it will automatically adjust to the next range up for which data is available.

Each one also links through to a more detailed reporting page via the links in the bottom right corner.
Feedback
How can we improve this?
We’d like to keep building on the Dashboard and include more and better metrics to keep you right on top of your marketing activities, so if you think of a way that we can improve it, please send us your ideas via the feedback form in the top right corner of each widget:

Standard widgets
These widgets are included in the Essentials package and are available for all customers.
The Email Results widget
This widget comes in two forms, depending on whether or not you have the data collection scripts installed on your web shop.
The email metrics on the Main Dashboard will use a new data source. As a result, the experience across the different reporting screens with regards to email metrics will be more consistent with this change. However, you might experience significant differences between your previous Main Dashboard and the new one. For more information, see Email metrics on the Main Dashboard will use a new data source.
With data collection
The widget shows you the open rates for your recent email campaigns, as well as the total number of purchases made and revenue earned which can be attributed to those email campaigns.
Without data collection
If you do not use our data collection API, the widget shows you the total daily response rates for emails, listed by the day they were launched (even if the response occurred afterwards).
You can also click through to the Trends page for a more detailed analysis.
How does this widget help me?
This is basically a snapshot of the Trends page, since it pulls data from the same source. It lets you keep track of your current level of engagement with your customers, as well as highlighting any anomalies which might require your attention.
For example, you might want to look at days that generated unusually high responses and try to identify what it was that caused them, or check the content of campaigns that received low responses and make sure there are no issues with personalized and conditional content that prevented contacts from receiving them.
The Database Growth widget
This widget shows the recent development of your contact database, giving you the number of new contacts added and the current total. It is updated daily. You can also filter the graph by using the check boxes on the right. It clicks through to the Contact Registrations reporting page.
Please keep in mind the following:
- Only those contacts are included in the Available (opt-in) metric whose:
- email address field is not empty,
- email address is valid and
-
opt-in field is set to
TRUE
.
- The No opt-in metric includes contacts whose opt-in field is either missing or set to
FALSE
. - Once the last update is finished, it takes at least 24 hours for the Database Growth widget to display the changes made to your database on the current day. Depending on the level of traffic on a specific environment, it may take a few more hours to display the updates.

How does this widget help me?
The most obvious benefit here is that you can see at a glance how many of your contacts are actually eligible to receive email campaigns. This helps you to measure your lead generation strategies, as well as evaluate the quality of those leads.
Troubleshooting
This widget is dependent on contacts being imported via manual or auto-imports, or via the API. If the numbers do not match what you expect, there may be an issue with your data synchronization.
If you notice a sharp rise in the proportion of unavailable contacts, this could indicate that a registration form is insufficiently protected and is being exploited by bots.
The Automation widget
This widget summarizes the performance of your automated (i.e. not ad hoc) email campaigns. These include all on-event/transactional and recurring campaigns, and Automation Center programs. The Automated delivery and Automated revenue figures show how much of your email volume and the attributable revenue come from automated campaigns.
This widget clicks through to the Trends page.

How does this widget help me?
Automated campaigns are the most efficient way of engaging with your customers, especially when you can trigger the campaigns through the customers’ own actions. This widget show how well you are performing in this regard.
Troubleshooting
Changes to the shape of the funnel in the last week can indicate that new automated campaigns have not been correctly set up, or you have problems with your link tracking or revenue attribution.
Please note that the total number of all clicks is shown here, including multiple clicks by the same person. This is in contrast to most other reports, which show the number of people who clicked.
The Mobile Engagement widget
This widget shows you the percentage of mobile responses to your email campaigns, as well as the click-to-open ratio for those responses. Hover your mouse cursor over the graph to see the exact figures for that day.

How does this widget help me?
With e-commerce rapidly becoming a synonym for mobile commerce, keeping track of how, when and on what device your contacts respond to your campaigns is becoming more and more important.
Additional information
Please note that mobile opens are counted when the email is first opened on a mobile device. If it is opened first on desktop and later on mobile, it will not appear here.
Mobile reporting also relies on being able to recognize the device as mobile and on being able to read the screen resolution. It may be that certain devices actively prevent this, and larger tablets will most likely not be counted as mobile.
The Email Campaigns widget
This widget shows a live snapshot of your last four launched email campaigns, with the delivery rate, opens and clicks.
On the Scheduled Email Campaign tab you can see any upcoming campaigns which have been scheduled for launch.
Click each campaign name to open the Results Summary page for that email, or click through to the email analysis Overview page.

Advanced widgets
These widgets include features only available in the Advanced or Max AI packages.
The Predict Recommendations widget
This widget is only available if you have Predict installed. It shows the overall contribution of your Predict recommendations over the selected time period, both in absolute terms and relative to the rest of your online revenue.

You can toggle between the overall Revenue contribution and the contribution Relative to online revenue. This second version shows you how much of your overall revenue has been attributed to Predict recommendations.

Click See more details to open the Predict Dashboard.
The Intelligence widget
This widget is only available if you have Smart Insight installed. It shows the latest status of your customer lifecycle segments and is updated daily.
In the bar chart you can see how many contacts are in each customer lifecycle stage, while the line shows you the average lifetime spend and conversion rate for that segment. Above these you can compare the average lifetime spend across your entire contact database with the average spend of active customers.
You can click through to the Smart Insight Customer Lifecycle page.

How does this widget help me?
Customer lifecycle marketing is all about getting contacts into the Active Customers segment and keeping them there. This widget shows you just how valuable that segment is to your business. It also helps you budget for your conversion efforts by showing the lifetime value of every contact in each stage.
Troubleshooting
If this widget is not showing any data, there has been an error in the upload of the sales_items and products files the previous day. Check your file upload settings.
The Send Time Optimization widget
The Send Time Optimization widget shows you how many emails have been sent using STO during the past four weeks, and compares their open rates with those of the control group.
