The add-on allows users to set up an individual contact (customer) synchronization schedule and field mapping for a specific Channel existing in a Sinch Engage (SE) Project.
Important:
- By default, all contacts of the specified Channel present in the Sinch Engage Project will be imported into Emarsys, into the fields prepared by the Implementation Consultant. The contacts matched to an ID will have the mapped fields updated for each Channel, while contacts not matched will be imported as new contacts.
- Synchronization always overwrites the fields mapped with the new values from SE.
WhatsApp is a special channel in that the identifier used here is the mobile phone number, already available in the Emarsys system database field Mobile
. In the case of WhatsApp, Implementation Consultants can configure the existing Mobile
fields for contact matching
- In Emarsys, navigate to the Add-ons > Sinch Engage > Settings tab.
- Click Add Schedule, then select the Project.
- Select one of the Channels existing in the Project.
- Map the fields available in SE (on left side) to contact fields in Emarsys (on right side).
You need to create these fields in advance.
- SE stores contacts’ (customers’) names in a free text input field in the following format:
[Firstname Lastname]
. The add-on offers the option to automatically split this string value at the[space]
character and write the results in the Emarsys system fieldsFirst name
andLast name
.
Please note that the name field in SE is a free text input field, and it is not guaranteed that it contains real name information.
- Save this synchronization by clicking Save. The new configuration now shows up on the Settings tab. Here you can see the last time when the synchronization ran.
- Repeat Steps 2-6 to configure any additional Channels available in your Project.
- By default, a segment named [[Addon] sinch_engage_xx (do not modify)] will be created with the contacts imported with each synchronization configuration.
Don’t forget to edit and update your field mapping here in case you introduce new fields or change field names in SE in the future.
Optin
and last activity are very useful fields to filter for inactive or opted out contacts if you want to clean your contact (customer) databases on both SE and Emarsys side.
