This article provides information on how to connect externally-hosted datasource via Relational Data, if you have a compatible SAP application or platform. (e.g SAP Datasphere)
The SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP) allows you to provision a Relational Data compatible database to make the data available, instead of requesting a new Relational Data connector setup.
You can use intermediate systems that are HANA compatible to make your data available. For example, if you have an externally-hosted data, you can feed data into SAP Datasphere, and feed your data into SAP HANA Database, which can be accessed by a native Relational Data connector.
Prerequisites
- You must have the Advanced Integration SKU in your SAP Emarsys contract to use Relational Data.
- Your data source or tool must be compatible with either a supported Relational Data database or an SAP HANA compatible system such as SAP Datasphere.
Provisioning a database
Use SAP BTP to access and provision numerous different tools and services including databases such as SAP HANA or MySQL:
- Complete the steps of Setting Up Relational Data Between SAP Account Engagement and SAP HANA Cloud.
- Connect your data source to the new database.
- Set up your Relational Data connector.
Note that although the linked instructions mention SAP Account Engagement, the method is the same as any number of SAP platforms, such as SAP Datasphere and it can be used to provide connectivity via Relational Data.
- Once the database is set up, populate it with data.
More information on how to prepare your database is available on the Preparing your hosted database for Relational Data and Integrating Data and Managing Spaces in SAP Datasphere pages.
