How does it work?
This is what happens when you enable link tracking within a campaign:
- Links will be shortened to the format
https://c.ems.to/XXXX
during launch generation. - The short links redirect to the links (or tokens) you added to the campaign when you created it.
Tracking links in a WhatsApp campaign
Here is what you need to do to track links in a WhatsApp campaign:
- Open your WhatsApp campaign.
You can enable link tracking only in campaigns that have not been activated yet.
- In the Content Creation step, switch on the Link Tracking toggle.
When you enable the Link Tracking switch, then all links in your campaign will be tracked.
Result: All links in your campaign are tracked after activating the message.
Use cases
You can cover the following use cases with link tracking in WhatsApp template messages:
- When you add a full URL as a template mapping.
- When you add an ESL snippet within a URL template mapping (e.g.
https://mybrand.com?encode={{ contact.48 }}
). - When you add an ESL template mapping that resolves to an entire link when Emarsys sends the campaign (e.g. if you defined
{{ contact.n }}
as a full URL in the Emarsys contact database).
Good-to-know and limitations
- Links that you added to your Sinch template cannot be tracked in Emarsys.
- When you enable the Link Tracking switch, all links in your campaign will be tracked. Individual links cannot be tracked within a campaign.
