Currently, you cannot test Interactions programs. However, this article provides you with tips and workarounds that help you check the content of your program before activating it.
Testing an Interactions program
To test a program, proceed as follows:
1. Open the program that you would like to test, then change the segments used in Decision nodes (type Included in segment) to test segments.
Use Segment decision nodes in your journey that only allow your internal test contacts to proceed.
2. Activate the program, test the logic of its structure and check the content of the messages.
What to do next?
If you are satisfied with the results, you can return to your original program as follows:
- Freeze the program.
- Change the test segments to segments targeting your real audience (e.g. contacts with opt-in) in Decision nodes (type Included in segment).
- Activate the program again, now it will send messages to your real target audience.
Testing a price drop program
To test a price drop program, proceed as follows:
1. Create your price drop program.
2. Configure the Product catalog updates trigger node by following the instructions below:
a. Set the Minimum drop (%) value to 0
.
b. Select the option Contacts who viewed the product 1
times in the last 2
days under Audience.
3. Add a Decision node using the type Included in segment to your program and select a segment that contains your, an internal or a test email address.
4. Add a Send email node and select a Triggered Email mail stream that contains the relevant block.
5. Log into your web store and view some items.
6. You will receive the campaign containing the viewed items according to your program’s schedule.
The program can send the campaign on the same day when you scheduled it, so you don’t have to wait another day.
Testing a back in stock program
You have to know which items will be back in stock to test a back in stock program.
- Create your back in stock program.
- Select the option Contacts who viewed the products

times in the last2
days option under Audience. - Log into your web store and view some items that will be back in stock the next time you run the program.
- You will receive the campaign containing the list of items that you checked on the website and are back in stock according to your program’s schedule.
The program can send the campaign on the same day when you scheduled it, so you don’t have to wait another day.
Checking how contacts are passing through your program
If you would like to check how contacts are progressing along your program before activating it, proceed as follows:
1. Make sure that there are no Send email, Mobile Engage push message and Send SMS nodes in your program.
You cannot remove nodes from active programs.
2. When you are ready, activate the program.
Now you can check how your contacts are passing through your program without sending messages to them.
What to do next?
To return to your original program, proceed as follows:
1. Copy the active program.
You cannot make structural changes in active programs.
2. Add all Send email, Mobile Engage push message and Send SMS nodes to your program according to your needs.
3. When you are ready, activate the program.
