It can happen that your segments are not returning the results you expect. Here are some suggestions on where to look when this happens.
Cannot find numeric value for a field
Numbers stored in numeric fields must start with a leading zero. This will be ignored and can cause some segments to fail.
This is a common cause of misunderstandings when people use this field type to store strings such as a customer or order ID, which consists of numerals but is in fact a code rather than a number.
If you filter for a numeric value that you know exists, but do not find it, first check whether the value starts with a leading zero, and whether the field type is numeric or short text.
If you do need to use a numeric field for such codes, for example in order to be able to search within a range of values, then you need to prefix all of them with an additional numeral that is not 0.
Some searches are case-sensitive
The same search expressions can sometimes lead to different filter results because of different case sensitivity of the Contact criteria search options.
- When using any criteria involving equal, the text field for your value is not case-sensitive.
- When using all other criteria, the text field for your value is case-sensitive.
