Overview
Exclusive Access (EA) allows you to easily create exclusive pages in your web-store with limited access for your loyalty members. Customers without access will encounter a blocking page that will encourage them to join the loyalty plan or upgrade to a higher tier. You can use EA as a fixed benefit, a reward for completing an action, or simply offer an access for points. While your customers feel special, EA does not cost you money and encourages engagement and further purchases.
Exclusive access blocking overlay:
The EA script is a part of the Loyalty Wallet JS or can be installed on its own. It requires a one-time implementation from your side. You can easily create as many accesses as you want and edit them in real time.
EA is designed for desktop and mobile and it can be used in multiple languages.
You can set up two different types of EA’s:
- Permanent exclusivity: You can use Permanent Exclusivity to specify a URL on your site as exclusive and permanently blocked to members without access (for example a “VIP Shop”). You can offer and manage several types of exclusive access simultaneously.
-
Limited Exclusivity: You can use Limited Exclusivity to specify a URL on your site that is defined as exclusive and blocked to members without access for a short period (for example a “Black Friday promotional shop”). The validity of the access is identical to the exclusivity period and once it has expired, it will not be possible to use this exclusivity again.
If you want to create a new, similar Limited Exclusivity for your members, you need to start setting up the Limited Exclusivity from the beginning. You cannot modify expired Limited Exclusivities.
- You can set up only one exclusive access per URL and Loyalty plan.
- If you use our API, use version 4 to take full advantage of all the EA features.
Setting up an exclusive access
To create a new EA, go to Exclusive Access -> Create New Exclusive Access (Permanent or Limited).
Choose an editor type - Here you have the option to decide if you want to create your own HTML code for the blocking overlay or to use and edit a ready-made template with minimum effort from your side.
Apart from the visual editor, the other settings are the same in both options.
Exclusivity settings
- The following are the basic settings for exclusive access:
- Exclusivity name - The internal name for you to use when connecting this access to benefits and actions.
- Access name - The name that your customers will see in their Wallet for this access.
- Access icon - The icon that your customers will see in their Wallet for this access. The same requirements are valid for this icon, as for Loyalty Action icons.
- Exclusive page URL - Here, you can select if you want to give EA (and blocking) only to specific URL, or to give EAs to all pages starting with a specific URL.
For example, if the top-level domain is www.test.com/category
, all pages starting with this URL will be exclusive:
www.test.com/category/newrelease
www.test.com/category/Oldrelease
www.test.com/category/Summer
In case you decide to give EA to all pages starting with the same URL, you will also have to define a landing page URL. This URL will direct members to this page after they are given access.
2. Select market - If you manage multiple markets (countries / regions / websites), you are required to select the specific market for which you are defining the EA. You have to define a separate EA for each market (country / regions / website), since these have different URLs.
If you do not manage multiple markets, this field is not relevant and will not be visible for you.
Limited Exclusivity
If you choose Limited Exclusivity, then you also have to enter the exclusivity validity.
Define the period during which the exclusivity will be active. The validity of the exclusivity and access is uniform and once it has expired, it will not be possible to use this exclusivity again.
If you want to create a new, similar Limited Exclusivity for your members, you need to start setting up the Limited Exclusivity from the beginning. You cannot modify expired Limited Exclusivities.
Blocking Page
Blocking page editor - Here, you can define the blocking overlay that non-members or members without access will see if they visit the exclusive pages.
When opening the editor, a ready to use template is displayed and, however, you can make design and content changes to this template.
The modifiable elements are the following:
- Overlay color
- Overlay opacity
- Content background color
- Tag color
- Tag radius
- Buttons background color
- Buttons radius
- Buttons links
- Links editor
The blocking page is responsive to support desktop and mobile environments. You can change the preview mode to see both options using the icons in the top right corner:
Note that you can change the design when in desktop mode, while the mobile version is for preview only.
If you manage a multi-language plan, you can define different content and links for each language. Use the dropbox in the top right corner and select the relevant language for this.
All definitions are available in real-time even if the page is already online.
Do not forget to save the settings before moving on to the next step.
Once saved, all changes will be immediately updated on your website.
Access & Offers
In this section, you define and activate the required access (the ability to view a page) and offers (the opportunity to receive an access as reward via the Wallet) for the exclusive URL; multiple access types can be active simultaneously.
The multiple available access types, for example, enable you to create a page with the following rules:
All your Gold members get unlimited access to the VIP page as a fixed benefit, but your Bronze and Silver members need to gain access by redeeming their points and their access is only valid for 3 days!
The VIP page is updated weekly with new products, so there is an incentive for your Bronze and Silver members to redeem the EA for points multiple times.
Access as a benefit or a reward
For Permanent Exclusivity, you have similar options for enabling your exclusive access as a fixed, additional benefit or a reward for an action.
You can choose from one of the following validities:
- Access is valid for an unlimited time
- Access is valid for a specified limited period, from the moment the customer earns it
- Access is valid for a predetermined date for all members
Access validity may be longer than the offer validity. People may access the blocked page for longer than they can see the offer in their Wallet.
After saving your selection, the Ready To Use tag will show up next to the access mode. Now, the EA will show up in the drop down of the action reward screen and fixed or additional benefit screens.
Also, you will be able to select it as a benefit under Loyalty > Tiers & Benefits > Fixed Benefits / Additional Benefits.
To set the access mode to Inactive, for action, fixed or additional benefits type of accesses, you need to make sure that the EA is not connected to any actions or benefits. Only then will you have the option Disable shown in the dropdown.
If you have a large number of rewards for benefits or actions, you make the setup of your benefits easier by limiting the number of displayed exclusive accesses.
Access for points and for free
When you decide to give out the EA for points or for free, the first setting is the tier settings.
For points
Select the tiers you want this access to be available for, and the number of points required for each tier to earn it. Once a tier is selected and the offer is activated, the offer is immediately displayed to members in the Loyalty Wallet.
For free
Here, you can select the tiers you want this access to be available for. Once a tier is selected and the offer is activated, the offer is immediately displayed to members in their Loyalty Wallet.
Offer message
Define the offer message for this access that will be displayed in the Loyalty Wallet. The text field includes the "value in points" token that is defined for each tier.
For free accesses, the {Value}
token won’t show up.
Access validity
You have similar options for access validity as for Access for benefits or a reward.
Offer status and validity
Select the offer status and period during which this offer will be available for members in the Loyalty Wallet.
This is how it will look during the first-time setup:
After the first setup, when you reenter this screen, you have the option to modify the dates or activate a new offer:
Activate new offer - You can activate a new offer, which will reset the active offer restrictions and be made available to the members of all the selected tiers for the defined duration of the offer. It is possible that people who have already redeemed the offer can redeem it again.
Modify active offer - You can modify an active offer, but your changes will not affect members who have already redeemed this offer.
Offer restriction - Define how many times a member can earn this access during the time that it is active. Once you activate a new offer, this restriction is reset.
In case the access validity is set to “Unlimited time”, there is no “Offer restriction” setting, as a one-time access is equal to lifelong access.
If you decrease the offer limit, and modify your active offer, members who have already reached the new limit will not be able to redeem their offers.
Limited Exclusivity
A Limited Exclusivity page is only blocked for a specific period, and the access given to that page is for that same period.
Therefore, under access type:
- You can only choose whether to give access or not, without any option to pick a date or period for the access.
- There is no option to use it as a benefit, as it is intended only for a short time span.
- Remember, in Access & Offers, you can only set a period for the availability of your offer in the Wallet, but not for the access itself. To set the Exclusivity validity, you need to go to Exclusivity Settings.
- To enable the Limited Exclusivity as a reward for an action, you need to check the checkbox as seen in the following image.
Additionally, you need to select the relevant Limited Exclusivity for the action you want to assign it to:
- By access for points or for free, the offer settings don’t give you the Offer Restriction option, as once your members get access, it is for the whole period.
- There is no option to create a new offer, just to modify the current offer.
Status tags for access types
- Inactive: The setup is not finished.
- Ready to use: The access validity is defined for and action or benefit, but it is not connected to an action or benefit.
- Active: The Exclusive Access is connected to the Wallet, action, or benefit.
- Expired: The access validity or offer validity is expired.
Activation
Once activated, the exclusive page is automatically blocked, and the page is only available according to your definitions.
Once deactivated, the blocking will be automatically removed from the exclusive page, which will become available again to all members.
