On the Event Monitoring page, you can access and check different types of events triggered by your contacts or applications that were sent to Emarsys. This tool provides you with an overview on event tracking over time, a breakdown by event type and name, and it also helps you discover events related to a specific contact and the payload of the events.
You can find this feature under Management > Event Monitoring.
Notes:
- The Event Monitoring feature is available for customers with the following SAP Emarsys Customer Engagement packages:
- Emarsys paper clients: Essential, Advanced and Max AI
- SAP paper clients: SAP Emarsys Customer Engagement, Core
- If you would like to check the Google Pub/Sub events on the Event Monitoring page, please ask your Client Success Manager to enable the Google Pub/Sub Event trigger in your account.
- Test events triggered during program testing are not displayed on the Event Monitoring page.

Prerequisites
The Contact-level event search filter at the top of the Event Monitoring page, the Contact Email field and View Payload feature in the Latest Events widget is only available for users with the Event Monitoring permissions Access Event Payload and Contact Event History.
To check your permissions, go to Management > User Management, select Roles and click the Preview icon next to your user role, then check the Management tab.
Use cases
The Event Monitoring page may come in handy in the following cases:
- When you would like to check events sent to Emarsys on a high level to understand trends or analyze significant decreases or peak periods.
- When you implement a new event type and you need to check if your events are received by Emarsys properly.
- When suddenly much less events are triggered in one of your Automation programs than usual and you would like to check them.
- When there is a contact level issue: for example, when your contacts complain that they have not received an email of yours or a password reset message.
Settings
At the top of the page, you can configure the following settings:
- Timeframe - Events that were triggered or received by Emarsys during the selected time period will be displayed.
Essential event data (i.e. name, source, time and the contacts email address) is stored for 12 months. The payload of the event is stored for 3 months.

Event Source - The source of the trigger event. The following event sources are available:
- External
- Web Extend (Purchased, Viewed product page and Viewed category list events)
- Mobile
- Wishlist
- Google Pub/Sub
The Web Extend Updated cart event is not available on the Event Monitoring page.
- Event Name - The name of the specific event.
- Contact-level event search - You can search for events related to a specific contact by entering their email address.
History widget
You can see the number of events triggered during the selected time period along with their event sources and names in the History widget.
Hover your mouse over the chart to display details on the number of events.
After selecting an Event Source, a breakdown of the chosen event appears. If you hover your mouse over the chart, details of the specific events are displayed.
Latest events widget
Based on the selected Event Monitoring filters, you can find the last 1000 events in the Latest Events widget.
Here you can see the following data:
- Time
- Event Source
- Event Name
- Contact Email
The Contact Email field might be empty if the contact's email address is missing (e.g. when an anonymous contact triggers a Mobile event) or if the contact who triggered the event has been deleted since. After deleting a contact, the event payload is not available anymore.
Here you can also:
- Check a specific contact by clicking the View Contact icon.
- Check the payload of the event by clicking the View Payload icon. In the Event Payload dialog, you can copy the payload by clicking Copy JSON.
The View Payload feature is only available for customers with the following packages:
- SAP paper clients:
- Advanced Integration Capabilities
- E-Commerce Accelerator
- E-Commerce Accelerator, Offline Stores option
- Emarsys paper clients:
- Advanced or Max AI package with the Interactions Advanced Features customer integration
