Overview
After capturing your customers' attention with great layout, the main goal of every email is to get them to convert by clicking a link through to your or another website.
As well as the default links shown in the Links tab, you can also link any element of your email content (providing you have allowed for this in the template design).
Links are not active in the live preview and cannot be clicked. To test a link, open the Links tab and hover over a link: an Open Link button appears which you can use to test the link. The Highlight link button helps you find your actual link in the live preview.
You can also test links in the email by sending a Testmail.
Linking text
In the Link Editor, add the target URL and give the link a title if you wish. You can switch the Deep link option on, if your link is a registered deep link, otherwise it won't be tracked properly.
Do not use the <
sign in image and link attributes (in the Url and Title fields in the Link Editor window or in the Image URL and Image alternative text fields in the Image Properties window) in VCE when editing your email campaigns, use <
instead. For example, instead of <3
, use <3
in these fields.
The Link Title is the <a href title =""> attribute. This attribute can be used to aid recipients in the following ways:
- Some browsers display the title as a tooltip when the cursor is hovered over the link, so you can give more information about where the link will direct the visitor, or if the full link text might be cut off.
- Some screen readers will read the title when this feature is activated.
If you do not define a title, the first part of the linked text will be used instead.
For more information, see Link title attribute - use cases.
Linking images
This icon will only be displayed if you have set the link as editable in the email template.
