Emarsys plan
We attribute clicks to opens automatically. This means that when the user clicks the email, but we have no open on that, we add the open automatically. You can also differentiate between real opens and Privacy Opens with the Email response (open or click) and No email response (open or click) email behavior filters.
What should you do?
Perform a contact data health check while opens are still there
Review the engagement health of your contact list now and clean out all disengaged users. Emailing disengaged users can seriously hurt your deliverability score. Using our email behavior segments, you can rely on your existing clicks and opens and filter out any disengaged users. You can also differentiate between real opens and Privacy Opens with the Email response (open or click) and No email response (open or click) email behavior filters. More on common deliverability issues you can read here.
Review re-engagement metrics - Segmentation based on behavior
Emarsys plan
Research alternatives and consider the option to eventually retire those email open based templates in the future.
What should you do?
We encourage you to use the templates that rely on clicks, as it is a more trustworthy data point in determining whether the contact interacted with a message. You can also differentiate between real opens and Privacy Opens with the Email response (open or click) and No email response (open or click) email behavior filters.
Rely on other indicators from other channels
Use offline purchases, mobile engagement, SMS.
You can identify engaged users based on activities from other channels such as
- SMS clicks
- Mobile opens --> see how to integrate with our Mobile SDK
- Offline purchases --> adding sales data from your physical stores
- Web channel --> Rely on web behavior data
Using this data, you can more reliably identify users who are actually engaging with your products but might not have opened an email.
